Meet Betty!
Betty is a 1991 Dihatsu Hijet mini truck. We test drove her and it was love at first sight. Betty is a little vintage. She enjoys the simple things in life, and doesn’t believe in new-fangled technology like power steering or air conditioning. She made the big trip home from Dayton to Granville, OH like a champ! Never feeling the need to go above 55 miles per hour. Life is about the journey as much as the destination.
Once home, Betty needed a few tweaks so we could get her ready for her travels. Figuring out how to work on an imported mini truck might not have been in my husband’s 2026 bingo card, but we’re all learning on the fly with this adventure, and he’s done an amazing job. Next, we handed over the keys to Dan Cook with 1880 Custom Cabinetry from Johnstown, OH to transform Betty into the cutest little green book truck. Dan added a bookcase bolted into the bed of the truck, along with storage for all our pop-up needs. We absolutely how everything tuned out! The bookcase compliments Betty’s classic vibe perfectly.
After the bookcase was done, Betty made a trip out to Amish Country to receive a custom cover. It was a beautiful day for a drive, and Betty enjoyed the scenery at her own pace. And with this final step, Betty was ready for her books!
What feels like such a s short process to recap took months. And so much work and labor on everyone’s end. We are so grateful to all who helped make Betty what is he is today!
